Unifacts is a platform for prospect students to analyze and compare information between programs and institutions. I managed a team of 4 people through the research and design of this mobile application idea in 8 weeks, resulting in a prototype which had an outcome of a system usability score (SUS) of 72.
In this project we had to create a solution for a problem the group had faced previously through an application. All the 4 of us were either newcomers to Canada or immigrants and we were going through higher education. We experienced a certain difficulty with the apps available and decided to create ours. The process followed the design thinking approach and we interviewed and tested it with both international and domestic students.
To the users of the app we had neutral, positive and negative results during testing. By listening to the users, the team fixed the issues creating an app that 95% of them would certainly have used during the process.
From a business perspective, having a clearer and comparable information set in such an app, would reduce the need to have several agents dealing with the process and recruiting students. Besides that, having a clearer information would also help students plan better for their programs in terms of time and money, which could potentially reduce the dropout rate.
